My weekend in the garden.

This weekend was the perfect weekend for gardening...
Not too hot but sunny, a nice wind so not too much mosquitoes!

I literally spent the entire weekend in the garden for the exception of the Hudson car show which I had to take Ollie to!

my sister in law and my Friend Stephanie came to help with the weeding and I am really happy with the work we did!

of course I had my favorite little helper who got a new pair of gardening gloves but preferred helping out with his new caterpillar tractor!!!

Hope these pictures help you get through this rainy Monday!!! Have a good week!!!

a little space...

Last weekend, I celebrated my friend Annie's birthday by taking her on a surprise day of all our favorite activities. The day started by going to Scrapbook central for two hours of scrapbooking. During those two hours, we talked about how nice it would be to have a space in our house that would be just for scrapbooking so we could go sit and do it even if we just have an hour free instead of having to take out all the stuff and then clean up after. It doesn't take much space, just a table in a corner or something. As I came home that night, that thought stayed with me and I realized that I have a special space for sewing and a special couch with my knitting stuff so why not a scrapbooking space?

So I reorganized the office a bit and made my self a lovely little space!!!

I have not sat there yet but it makes me happy just thinking about it!!!

Our garden...

It feels like this year it took so long to get everything ready for the garden; not only did spring take it's time but I wanted to do things differently. I wanted to make the garden more efficient, easier to remove weeds but also more aesthetic. I decided to make garden rows. Long rows that are about 20" wide and that have enough space in between to mow the lawn. later this summer we plan to have sod installed everywhere so the garden area will be well defined ant clean looking!!

I got some help from Ollie,

No help at all from these lounging beasts,
And tons of help from my sister-in-law-tenant-extraordinaire!!
I built these arches with strings from tree branches to support the cucumbers and sweet peas, I got the idea from visiting the Miner's farm last year in Granby.
I also made heavy duty supports for the tomatoes.
It's finally all planted, the squash, the herbs, the sunflowers, etc.
This is the view from the deck, and it always look like nothing in the beginning especially after so much work but I have faith that, like every year, it will be amazing!!!

A day in Oka...

Last Saturday, My friend Annie and I went to Oka to take some photos of the orchards in bloom. In all my years living in Quebec, I don't think I've ever been walking in an orchard other than apple season... It was so beautiful! And even though it rained about 10 minutes after we got there, we got to hang out in the orchard's barn and it was really nice. It was full of antiques and so I ended up taking more pictures of the barn than the actual trees!!!
