La fin/The end...

I've said it before, I love fall! It's my favorite season. But the one thing that makes me sad is the end of the garden season... Maybe one day, my man will build me a greenhouse to garden all year long but for now, around this time of year, only the chrysanthemum are in full bloom... Everything else is slowly falling asleep. So one final gardening day to bring everything in and a few fall dishes to prepare...

At the beginning of the year 2014, me and some dear friends went to a workshop called "creative life wheel". It consists of creating a large collage of images that represent what you want in the year to come. There is some writing involved about different spheres of your life you would like to improve upon like personal life or family life and all that but the end result is made to hang somewhere in your home where you can look at it everyday to make sure you realize those dreams.

Mine had three aspects; enjoy the outdoor, spend more time by myself and be healthy.

I started a diet that generally made me more healthy, I did not spend ANY time by myself! But last weekend I managed to go camping with my sister so all is not lost!!!

We went to Plaisance national park, it's a Quebec park and it's an hour away. I went with my sister and my son and I absolutely loved every second of it. There is something about finding yourself surrounded by nature that just soothes me...

Pumpkins, I love you!!

Last week we went pumpkin picking and I have to say It's such a great experience, I keep thinking I'll grow them in the garden butternut squash is as close as I got! Maybe next year!!

We keep some for decorating of course but most of our pumpkin end up in puree in the freezer to last us all year round!

With my sous chef, we baked the most amazing pumpkin bread! I make it many time during the year, not just in the fall and the recipe comes from my good friend Andrea who's off now traveling with the circus!!! (but in my opinion, she could become a chef as a back up plan!!!) hope you enjoy it!!!

Andrea's fantabulous pumpkin bread!!

2 cups spelt flour
2 eggs (I use two very ripe squished bananas)
1/2 cup sugar (I use brown)
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp dried ginger
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 cup pumpkin seeds (I pre-roast mine)
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup almond milk

Mix all wet ingredients together, mix all dry ingredients together, fold gently dry into wet and sprinkle pumpkin seeds on top.

Bake in parchemin lined loaf mold for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

The hudson car show

Ever since my son could hold something in his hand, he's been playing with little hot wheels. It's surely genetic but nothing we imposed on him; the boy LOVES cars... anything with wheels, he even drives his potatoes in his plate!!

So, for three years now, I've taken him to the Hudson annual  car show.
never in my life would I have thought I would go to a car show but it makes him happy. Crazy happy! And for the first time this year, he asked me to take pictures of him with his favorite cars!!!

My friend M and her son joined us which made it more fun for us as we got to chat a bit. We had a great day!!!
